Irish Monument

In 1997 the Wearing of the Green committee worked with the Irish Canadian Club, the Ulster Club and the Ministry of Canadian Heritage to create a monument to acknowledge the Irish contribution to Hamilton.

It was unveiled in Gage Park. However, due to repeated attacks by vandals a forced relocation of the monument was made to its current site at City Hall, a few years later.

Every St. Patrick’s Day, or the week of, the Wearing of the Green hold a brief ceremony in memory of our ancestors.
