2010: Sheila and Denis Corr

The 25th Anniversary of the Wearing of the Green St.Patrick’s Day luncheon gave us the opportunity to celebrate two extraordinary groups that preserve and promote the Irish culture in Hamilton.

Denis & Sheila Corr and the Golden Horseshoe Feis 2010:

Sheila and Denis revived the Feis in 2000. Sheila was the chair and chief fundraiser while Denis arranged the musicians and the logistics. The Irish stew nights at the Corr’s were not only fundraisers but unifying forces for the Irish Community but important in maintaining the tradition of Irish dance.

The Corrs currently volunteer with the Hamilton Irish Arts.

The Irish Canadian Club 2010:

The club was founded in 1952 with the express purpose of helping immigrants to adjust to living in Canada. The club has been active in promoting football, travel, Feis, language lessons and music with choirs and tin whistle lessons.

The ICC preserves and promotes Irish culture in Hamilton.
