Shirley has been an active volunteer her entire life.
It started as a Sunday school assistant and moved onto one of the founding families of Corpus Christi Church. She was the church bookkeeper, choir director and organist. She has been president of the CWL as well as part of the regional, provincial and national CWL executives.
Shirley volunteered with Catholic Children’s Aid as a board member and one of the inaugural members of the Serendipity Auction. She was the first women president of the East Hamilton Rotary club. She volunteered at Good Shepherd and on the Week of the Child Committee. Shirley has been the Chair of the Glanbrook Home Support (Now Glanbrook Community Services), was a volunteer driver for the GHS, was active with the Ancaster Fair and the volunteered in Diocese of Hamilton Archives.
Shirley said, “My mother used to say, ‘it’s better to give than receive’ so she encouraged us to get out into the community”
