Bernie emigrated from Cork and became a dedicated volunteer with the Irish Canadian Club of Hamilton where he held the office of President for two separate terms.
He was a volunteer on the Wearing of the Green Committee and he was instrumental in trying to get the City of Hamilton twinned with the City of Cork.
